Rough time by meat weight

Evening,

I wondered if any of you good fellows had any rough time per kg for pork shoulder or brisket?

I know well that there is no exact science to this and 'it's done when it's done' , but the purpose of this is for a BBQ app I am making. One of the most difficult parts of the cook for me is planning backwards when to start, including the little bits I forget such as time to light a chimney, let the smoker warm up etc, so I am writing an app that helps plan this as well as plot stages and actions.

I believe its usually about 1-1.5hrs per lb so roughly 2.5-3.5hrs per kilo but depends on smoking temp and whether you foil through stall

I generally cook pork shoulders at 250 - 270f and a rough rule of thumb I allow 1.5 hours per llb. I allow myself an hour from lighting the coals to starting to cook and I like to have a 2 hour period for the shoulder to rest in a cooler. It really isn't a science though and you tend to feel your way through a cook and react to events

Thanks guys, I didn't think there was a scientific approach, general consensus will be enough for a rough guide, it's mainly a case of highlighting the steps and giving a rough time, I want to allow the app time to be configured - for different peoples needs / set ups etc

For advice purposes I am going to mention foiling for the stall as otherwise it's even more 'finger in the air' time :)
