Pork shoulder smoking

Hi All :D
Does anyone slow cook in the indoor oven them finish by smoking on the bbq
Reason is the mrs can start off then I can finish when I get home pork shoulder can take a lot of time in bbq thanks

The problem with doing it that way is that the smoke will only coat the outside as the meat will not absorb a smoke flavour once cooked, granted the outside will take smoke but it won't taste as good as if fully cooked on a BBQ or if you reverse the process, smoke for a couple of hours then cook in the oven.

I've had friends insist that that works. Tried it. Doesn't work. Smoke first THEN oven cook if you must :)

Very nice YetiDave. Did you get a barrel with or without a liner painted inside - and if so, did you remove it?

Nah, no liner in this one, just the remnants of engine oil which I burned out :D

As above, I smoke for 4 - 6 hours, then foil it and bang it in the oven (or back on the smoker if I'm not doing more meat)
