They are okay, quite meaty and not a bad price, however once we've eaten the ribs we have in the freezer I will be going to meatpacks and ordering their bulk ribs, which are frozen for delivery. I've had the individual racks from them and they were excellent and quite meaty, I believe the ribs are Spanish (fribin?).

Makro have decent sized pork shoulders ,never seen brisket there.
I ordered from My Local butcher to give me a large piece of brisket.when I paid for it,noticed it was 30% more expensive than shelf cost just because of size.will be asking somewhere else next time.

Those are the ones I use - also known as 'German ribs'. Not sure why - I suspect they are cut to a German specification.

They are quite good - certainly fine for your family BBQ.

The ones at meatpacks are 49.98 for 10kg for both belly or loin ribs. Are they worth double the price?

Sounds good but don't you have to be a business to join Bookers?

Yes - but what constitutes a 'business'. A sole trader is a business and there are no registration requirements for being a sole trader.

Depending on the branch, bookers also may do a 'day pass' for you - just call them up first and tell them you need to order some bulk items for your office, or for a party etc. Browse through booker.co.uk and see what you want. You will not be able to see prices without an account though.

I tend to use my local butcher for big stuff as he gets it from local farms, although I do get occasional stuff from Costco. I don't see much difference in price but then I do get a "to you" price at the butcher as he's a friend of a friend. Does good pies as well :D

That's the box I always use, always goes down a treat, pork shoulder is usually around £3-£3.50 per KG and usually around 5kg, although last week I got a 6.2 and a 7.0 kg shoulder :) did them all for a mates birthday and very well received.

But £9 per KG for shoulder??? Ask around some more butchers, and when you find one you get one with stick with them, you'll end up getting benefits like cheaper prices and also a good natter with them.

I normally get my ribs from Bookers and shoulders from the butcher but this was for a party and they wanted it doing cheap so I got the shoulder from Bookers too.

Ask your butcher again and just make sure the £9 wasn't per KG for the beef.

Do you happen to have the product code or te booker shoulders? Are they fresh or frozen?
I buy the pork collars/necks which are ideal for making sausage. They come frozen in a 13?6 kg box for 37.99
