With us having a quite weekend we felt like having a go at a grilling contest and seeing as it wasn't far from us we thought we'd give it a go.
The Rules were as follows:
Each one of the 10 entrants will arrive on the morning of Saturday 9th
June.
They will receive one box of food, containing
• Organic Pork Belly, Rind on
• Organic Cote de boeuf
• 1 mystery ingredient! (This turned out to be Buffalo liver)
They will be required to make two dishes of their own recipe, with
each of the 3 ingredients being used over the two dishes.
Sides/garnish are up to the competitors to bring, and can be as
creative as they like! The judges will be judging the quality and
originality of the entire meal, not just the BBQ portion!
The dishes were to be judged by James Martin off Saturday Kitchen, Cesar Garcia the head chef at Iberica Food and Culture, and Judith Batchelar a Saisbury's big wig.
I'm happy to say that we won the competition with Cesar Garcia giving us a 10 out of 10 and James giving us a 9 out of 10 & the Saisburys lady only gave us an 8 (I'll be moving my shopping to Tesco's now )
It was good fun and some of the feedback we got from James was brilliant, as well as we won £1,000 for charity and the look on their face when we gave them the cheque was a great feeling for us.
