Am sure they'll see you right - just annoying.

I wonder if it is because if they change to the nomex style gasket, it'll be seen as an admission there was a fault & therefore have to dish out new gaskets to all their customers?

They should use a permanent solution like Kamado komodo do.

I've emailed Alfresco, hopefully they'll send me a replacement!
Did you run high heat? They will sort you out, maybe worth a call though as they might just send the standard felt gasket out. I've got the high heat one on mine now which you have to use 3M Scotchweld 77 spray adhesive on, well worth the extra effort sourcing the adhesive

What temperature do you call high? Over 700? How long did you cook for before you went over 350?

BGE.com says the below on their site about first cooks

DO NOT cook at high temperatures on your first use

This may damage the gasket before it can properly seat itself. Keep the temperature on your first few cooks under 350°F / 177°C to allow the gasket to fully cure and adhere to the EGG. If you do happen to damage the gasket, you can replace it with another one available from any BGE dealer.
