Webber bricketts

Dose anyome know if webber bricketts are at the same quality as heat beads, or if not better ?
A local garden centre is selling webber bricketts. As I'm finding it hard to find heat beads locally, I would like to know if these are a good subsitute or not.

Eddie, they used to BE heat beads, but now they are webers own brand. I will be totally honest here, I used a couple of bags and found they left a really odd film over the Walls of my cookers. When I asked the supplier they said it was the starch they used for binding. It was a food grade starch, corn or potato and it was nothing to be concerned about.

I haven't used them since, I thought if they leave a visible film on my cookers then what is it doing to my food.

It really is great using lump charcoal when you have been used to briquettes before. Not half as much shite over the bowl of the grill.

I used briquettes twice in the WSM and it was a mess. Cleaned it off, moved to lump and not really a problem.

My kettle grill on the other hand is disgusting! All due to the briquette starch over the bottom bowl.

Agreed, I'd always favour lump over briquettes. However some people can't get hold of decent lump and are forced to use briquettes. If using them I'd say heat beads or cocochell briquettes are the best option but don't use the minion method as the briquettes do tend to stink a bit when they're lighting.

I can't lump round by me and I don't have a Bookers or Makro account (anyone wanting to hook me up would be appreciated!)

I had a look earlier and if you buy 15 bags it works out at just over 8 quid per bag Or was it 25 to get that price??? Can't remember but it was a much better buy than it is at Booker and Makro

Not that I know of, my first order was only for 24kg so I assume not. You just get better value if you order more...

1 bag + del = £14.99
2 bags + del = £25.99 (£12.95 a bag)
4 bags + del = £48.00 (£12.00 a bag)
5 bags + del = £49.00 (£9.80 a bag)
15 bags + del = £128 (£8.53 a bag)
25 bags + del = £186 (£7.44 a bag)
