Charcoal Choices

Post by Q_Division »

Hi all,

I appreciate this may descend in to a 'discussion' on lump vs briquettes but could do with some thoughts. Currently looking in to charcoal suppliers in the Northampton area and have come up with a couple:

1) CPL cash & carry
> Well known and probably a safe choice, can get both blue bag lump and Supagrill Wonder briquettes.

2) KG Smith & Son
> Local fuel merchant can do Malaysian (in a box) or South African (in a bag).

All are similarly priced however CPL is 12kg, KG is 10kg. Looking for both the smoker and grill (although may end up with different types for each).

Thanks in advance.

Have been using Supagrill Wonder briquettes.

I don't really have anything to compare them to, other than that they seemed to burn at least as long as the Big K briquettes and that they are on the large side.

CPL lump is good stuff, I use that on my ceramic and kettle. For something like a WSM briquettes are probably more stable
