Goat
I just picked up a nice looking shoulder of goat which I'm gonna cook up next weekend, has anyone had any experience smoking the stuff? It looks well marbled so I'm thinking it'll behave pretty much the same as a pork shoulder. Maybe hickory smoked with a pineapple, cumin and scotch bonnet glaze?

Re: Goat
Hi Dave,
My experience with goat is it is much leaner, closer to venison than pork. Like the sound of your rubs etc but I would smoke roast it hotter and spritz it with pineapple juice infused with scotch bonnet.
Let us know how you go
Cheers

Re: Goat
Funnily enough I've got a leg of goat sat in the oven as I type. I'm with tiny, I'm not convinced that it would behave well under a low n slow smoke.
If you've not tried it before, go easy on the scotch bonnet - goat's a delicious meat and it's worth getting to get to grips with the flavour of the meat.

Re: Goat
Erm, it can be either? Curry goat seems to suggest more goat than curry, whereas the curry I've made with goat was cubed goat leg in an onion based masala. I've personally never heard anyone order a curry chicken or alike!

Re: Goat
Christ, and I thought I was pedantic, it really doesn't matter does it? Chicken curry, beef curry, lamb curry, goat curry - all interchangeable with 'curried X'. How about we be more concerned with the taste than something as trivial as the name?
