It's prefered if an outside host is used. But you can embed a large image from say photobucket. We have a 600px width limit on images, anything larger than this will not be shown.

The reason we recommended Photobucket was simply because it offers automated image tag generation. The idea was to make it easy for the less tech savvy.

There's nothing stopping anyone hosting their images on any other service and populating the image tag themselves. We should update the bit about thumbnails, as it's not correct, full size images hosted on a 3rd party server are fine.

You're more than welcome to use Tinypic.

The reason we ask not to embed images on the forum is just storage space. The forum makes no money, but obviously it costs money to host. The more pictures we have, the bigger the database, you get the picture.

Hi All, just to clarify, and contradict previous responses, Please only use thumbnails, its not just about file size, its about loading speed for the pages especially on mobile devices. if someone wants to see a larger picture its just a click away.
Thanks
Toby

Unfortunately, using the website on a mobile device is still not practical for some of us using Android.

Is there any chance of implementing my suggestion in

at some point? It is a fairly straightforward stylesheet change, and will stop the problem with the LH side of the page disappearing permanently off the screen.

hi Chris, sorry but at the moment I do not have the time to implement any changes to the forum, the society is run by me, and with 2 major competitions in the next 6 weeks plus other events, main web site updates etc it will have to wait untill things calm down a bit.
