If you sign up for a free photobucket account you can upload pics to that then it generates link and thumbnail code you just cut and paste into your forum post. There's a guide on the forum to tell you how.

Photobucket is really handy for forum posting.

There's a great Butcher in Henley On Thames, that's probably a good 40 miles from you, but if you're ever down that way...

There's also a decent one in Tilehurst just west of Reading, and one in Shiplake. Sorry these aren't closer to you but these are the ones that i use.
My old stopping ground coming from Twyford originally but now I’m down in Southampton I’m having similar problems finding good local butchers who would understand the American terms since if I went in asking for butt I’ll probably get directions to the local gay club.

You could try asking for a pork collar. Thats what the guys in my local abattoir know a pork "butt" as. As long as you mention you want the blade left in they should be in the right area. I dont think pigs have that many shoulder blades :)

Was just googling for the answer to this question, thanks for the replies. Off to my wonderful local butcher to pick up a pork butt to try as my first go at low and slow bbq.

Hi,

I am in Oxfordshire too, near the Harley Davidson garage. I get all my meat from Meat Master on Osney Mead in Oxford. Meat is always well priced and those guys really know their stuff, they can do or get anything for you. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

(No, I don't work for them :) )

Which side of Swindon? I am Lambourn side & get my meat from a butcher in Hungerford - tried 3 or 4 before finding him. Both the butchers know their stuff & are used to me coming in & asking all sorts of questions especially with respect to American versus UK cuts. The other good butcher I have found is the one on the bridge in Newbury - but a bit further away for me.

Edit: the guys on the high street in Marlborough are also pretty good for beef.

But there are a couple of BBQ competitors based in Swindon who will hopefully answer re Swindon based suppliers.
