Supagrill Briquettes!!!

Post by alithehat »

So...I got the absolute longest and most stable burn from my WSM this weekend...using Supagrill briquettes from the garage forecourt!!!

They were all I could find in a rush for a last minute chicken n' ribs session...and is probably the most consistent experience I have had to date...including using Big K (briquettes and lumpwood) and weber briquettes - I am yet to get my mitts on any heatbeads...

Ribs for 5 hours in the 235-260 region - then ramped up to just over 300 for an hour and a half for the chook...wsm responded perfectly to the vents and is probably the hottest I have managed to get the beast for any consistent period of time.

I bought the supagrill with a fair degree of trepidation (coming from asda garage forecourt and all), but found it to be really ace for what I needed. Minimal smoke on lighting in my chimney starter as well, popping it on a gas burner to start as opposed to using paper.

What do you guys think? Anyone had good/bad/indifferent experiences with supagrill briquettes??

I loved the coco shell briquettes when they did them and the normal ones when I could find any, they were always good and burnt for ages, although I'd be hard pushed to notice much difference from the BigK ones, getting them locally is a huge benefit though!!

I have read loads about the cocoshell briquettes - from what I have read the had a good clean burn - but haven't come across them anywhere...are they no more?

£4.50 for 5 kilos of the supagrill briquettes literally on my doorstep...can't be a bad thing??

Had them before my current bag of Weber briqs and thought they were great. Found them at a Tesco filling station recently at £5 for 5kg so stocked up with a couple for when the Webers run out.

Weirdly, Tesco only sells them in its filling stations, you can't get them in store. :?
