Where do you buy your herbs and spices from?

Post by clairbare »

Just wondered where you all buy your bulk herbs and spices from? We have been to bookers who only seem to sell schwartz, which although are a good brand, seem quite expensive if you are using quite a lot (which we seem to have done) we have also tried costco but their range seems a little limited.

Thanks Clair xx

Hey John

At the moment we really need onion powder and dried thyme, i know we can get a small pack from tesco, but you don't get enough, I like bigger portions :P

Thing is we are trying to make all sorts of rubs/sauces until we feel we have the right flavour for us so we have got through quite a bit :)

What's cooking at the shack tonight

I use local Indian or Oriental stores as they tend to sell 100g packs (APNA, Rajah brands) for about the same price as a small jar of something from Tescos and do stock items such as onion & garlic powder. For dried thyme, Carribbean stores usually sell it in bigger quantities at better value than supermarkets imho. Costco I agree are a bit limited perhaps paprika, salt and pepper.

Most of the time I hit up my local chinese cash and carry who sell the full range of Rajah spices.

I've also bought online from several places too. John has recommended Redmoor to me before so it is on my list of suppliers to try.
