April's a little early to break out the grill? Is that page serious?

She's from Colorado, so it's probably still snowing at that time of year.Verminskti wrote:April's a little early to break out the grill? Is that page serious?
What do we use in the UK for molasses? Is that black treacle?
Re: Sweet Baby Ray Clone Recipe
I use black treacle, however you can also buy Molasses from Health food places (e.g. Holland and Barrett's).DJBenz wrote:She's from Colorado, so it's probably still snowing at that time of year.Verminskti wrote:April's a little early to break out the grill? Is that page serious?![]()

Cool, cheers Deano. I'll probably stick to the Tate & Lyle TBH, the health food stuff probably costs an arm and a leg.Deano wrote:I use black treacle, however you can also buy Molasses from Health food places (e.g. Holland and Barrett's).

I made this one at the weekend and it makes a pretty decent BBQ sauce. I added extra sugar to cut the taste of the vinegar back as it was a little sharp without it. I also substituted the kosher salt for Maldon smoked sea salt and the mustard powder for 2 teaspoons of English Mustard.DJBenz wrote:Another (claimed) Sweet Baby Ray-alike:

It's quite runny without the suggested 1/2 cup of water, so I'd suggest leaving that out until the end and adding it if you need extra runniness.

I was amazed to find the real thing in my local Tesco, they now have a small section of American food!
Re: Sweet Baby Ray Clone Recipe
I served it up for my wife's ladies that came round at the weekend. Went lovely with the pulled pork and they loved it.MadBeef wrote:@ DJBenz > I tried a small batch last night. I used muscovado and added a little Tom puree for more tomatoeyness (sic?)
