Good book wanted

Post by GuyB »

Can anyone recommend a good book to buy with Xmas money - want one that covers do's and dont's with rubs/brines as well as cooking temps and a comparison of British/American butchery/cuts. Any ideas? Or anyone want to write one so I can buy it off them?! ;-)

I'd say the Pitt cue book does quite a good translation of US bbq for UK audiences (including cuts of meat). It doesn't cover much in the way of rubs, I'd stick to one of the hundreds of US books on that subject or perhaps the Weber guide to smoking (UK edition).

Thanks - I'd just been looking at the Pit Cue book and thought it looked good... Reckon that'll do it! Happy New Year.

Hi

I got the dummies guide to bbq rubs, marinades and sauces from the wife for xmas.
Im really happy with my dry rub but wanted ideas for sauces and maybe to change things up once or twice with my rub.
Very helpful book, shows trimming pork, brisket and ribs. Only basic info but very easy to understand and also has loads of rub recipes and sauces plus marinades.

I only started smoking this year so still have plenty to learn, also got the BBQ bible which has 500 recipes in, to be honest I haven't done one of them yet

I picked up the Pit Cue book in TK-Maxx cheap. Might be worth having a look there

Have a look at Adam Perry Lang's Serious Barbecue. Great book IMO.
