Big K 10kg briquettes

Post by AndyHull »

Hi all,
Not sure where to post this?

Just to let you know that Wicks are having a sale on Big K briquettes.
I just got the last 2 10kg bags in the Hull store for £13.98 :D
maybe there will be some left in a store local to yourselves.

You mean Wickes DIY? Never seen charcoal there - but to be honest, I wasn't looking :)

Yeh wickes DIY.
I found that they were selling it off cheap online so called my local store and they had 2 bags left.
I would have bought more if they had of had more at that price 20kg for £13.98 is very cheap.

I got some charcoal today from my local Co-op that wasn't quite as cheap - 5kg bags for a fiver but 'buy one get one half price' so 10kg for £7.50.

I took the last 4 bags. :)

Wickes are tied in with/part of "The Range" group who also stock Big K brands charcoal. In Stevenage they are actually nest door to each other.

What Brand are they?
I've found the cheaper brands tend to burn quickly and inconsistently!!

Newbs they are okay for grilling, provided you don't want to grill for too long. Please bear in mind that if you use them for low and slow or any long cooks then you risk severe disappointment. They are fine for practicing setting up your smoker/kettle but don't forget should disappointment set in that it's just one more factor to change when trying to get good results.
