The New Pitmaster IQ120
Don't know if anyone has seen this but the makers of Pitmaster are now advertising a new version of a pit temp controller. http://www.pitmasteriq.com/IQ120.html I haven't used or seen one of these in action so I cannot give a review of one.

I believe Toby was going to check one out at some stage. It does look god having one machine doing both jobs and if it works it will save a fair bit of money on mavericks etc.

Still waiting for our first shipment to come in, it has been a shocking situation however, they are currently sat in customs as they have been since the weekend and I will be having a play as soon as i can.

Hi Folks,
These Pitmasters, are they watertight? and will they just clip on my Pro Q or would I need to get the drill out?
And More to Toby does the price on the website include delivery? on when and how do you order one?
Thanks
Philip

Well I can answer this one anyway. No they are not water tight, but a waterproof box can easily be made. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lS5L7l9VZLUCatsup and Mustard wrote:Hi Folks,

Or you can pay an extra £400 for a stoker or a guru?

Re: The New Pitmaster IQ120
The pitmaster will keep your Q at the temp you set it at. IQ110 has no problem in cooking at 225f. As for cooking lower than that. I would'nt. What did you have in mind?
As for saving money, you will notice the amount of charcoal that you will need is far less.

Re: The New Pitmaster IQ120
The reason for lower temps was to hold meat/cooked produce at around 75°C for outdoor catering.

No quite Eddie, you can get a Guru for not much more than the IQ120, but have to import it yourself.Eddie wrote:Or you can pay an extra £400 for a stoker or a guru?
Also none of them are water proof, but with the stoker and guru's you can keep them dry with a zip-lock bag where the fan isn't built into the main control unit.
Stoker does cost a bit more (mine cost £450 imported for a 2 fan system with some meat probes) but can be set up to automatically switch to a holding mode (drops to 180f) once the meat has hit it's target temp'.
Also environmental health loves Stoker log.

Just a recommendation but Cambro catering storage units might be what you are looking for? http://www.cambro.com/home/ The only thing that puts people off these is that they are not cheap.
All the best
