Portable cooker

Does anybody have any ideas on what I could use for camping guys? I can get the Jim Bowie into the trailer but no camping gear!

I know that most people on here (including myself) are charcoal guys but when we take a BBQ out for a day trip or when we're staying at the caravan I really like the convenience of my Weber Q100. I've got and used smaller charcoal setups but if you're cooking straight forward grillable fair like sausages & burgers I do like the fact I can be up and cooking within 10 mins and there is no worry about how to get rid of hot charcoal etc.

Thanks Robyn, makes sense as we use a gas bottle for the stove too, although I'm thinking I want to grill, smoke, firepit for mallows and to sit round etc.

Adam, you are on your holidays, great idea re the firepit, buy a cheap charcoal kettle and cut the legs down. Do you really want to spend your time on your valuable holidays smoking? Precook, vacpac and reheat on your gas setup!!

I really like the Weber Smokey Joe, especially as this time of year you'll soon be able to pick up a bargain as the garden centres run down their BBQ stock.

Thanks Chris, Keith, you are right as per ! Maybe not low and slow then! A kettle to grill on, sit around and do some marshmallows, done deal. Many thanks.

I think I own the very thing the CADAC carry chef deluxe, packs down neat and has flat top grill, non stick griddle, traditional grill and I also have a skottle attachment, a south African pan somewhere between wok and paella pan, they also do a paella pan that can be used for one mega pan based brekkie.

Heartily recommend!

Well done Tiny I'd forgotten about the cadac it's a great bit of kit for cooking and even featured as a cooker in the South African Braai Master series. One of those and a cheap kettle base for a firepit and Robert becomes a close relative
