Do you have a BBQ item that you don't need and want to sell? Or are you desperately looking for something that you can't find. Post your sales and wanted notices here.
Thanks for that site, I've got it bookmarked now. Hmmm....Aldershot....(takes a look at Google Maps).....just down the road from Tongham. I am so there!
If ever anyone finds this sauce in their supermarket, here is a great use for it:
Lake Alfred Chicken BBQ Sauce - from an old family friend
Plenty for 4 leg quarters or a dozen thighs:
1/2 lb butter
2 cups water
1/2 cup vinegar
juice of 2 lemons
1 tsp prepared mustard
2 tsps sugar
1 bottle 10 oz Durkees Famous Sauce.
Tabasco
Worcestershire sauce
salt and pepper to taste
Melt butter in large saucepan. Add remaining ingredients. Baste chicken in sauce toward the end of cooking time to prevent burning
Notes: Lake Alfred is a small, rural town in central Florida about 5 miles from me. I use less butter than called for by about half, just my preference. I use a light-color vinegar to avoid darkening the color of the finished sauce. Reserve some of this sauce for use at the table. This stuff is delicious....very tangy. Piquant, even.
The shop is less than five minutes from Toby's house. Unfortunately it's expensive because the stuff is all shipped in. However you can get some stuff there that's not available elsewhere.
Sense of Humor: Radio Prunes rendition of macbeth is right up there, Lee Evans-stand up, Mitch Hedberg, Monty Python, Horton hears a Who, High Spirits staring a very pissed Peter O Toole, anything clever and well delivered. Not too keen on the innane and idiotic.

Sad to say, I have never seen or heard of it, and I live in the US I see it is carried in the Kroger supermarkets, which is where we shop most of the time. Since I hadn't heard of it, I tried a web search and found this DFS Substitute recipe:

Sometimes copycat recipes are better than the store-bought ones. Like Bisquick -- we have a copycat that produces much fluffier pancakes and biscuits.
