Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit...

...not a Chaz and Dave tribute post, but what I smoked last night. It turned out pretty good as well. I didn't have access to the carcasses until just before I was going to do them, so couldn't get them brined, but I used a nice salty rub that gave them great flavour. Anyone else got experience of grilling rabbit?

That looks good - I've got a few in the freezer, I think I'll give it a go. As you mentioned I think it would benefit from a brine.

I generally stew rabbits. Rabbit Stiffado is excellent.

Smoked rabbit? Hmm, not sure I'd like that. It'd be nice to try though, I suppose.

What sort of price does a rabbit go for in your neck of the woods Keith?

Not bought any recently, my previous butcher was talking about £14 each, Emmett reckons around £3-£5 but that was a guess, I'm popping in to see him in the next few days so I'll ask.
Sadly none of my old shooting buddies still venture out and about these days, it's not something very popular around here, doubtless further out in the "wild backwoods" of rural Herts they are more prevelant.
Just had a quick google (they can't touch you for it you know ) and this company is showing wild rabbit at £4.97 per Kg.
