I have struggled with brisket this year and had no expectations of a GC or RGC. Looking at the scores, I was 14 points behind Dave of GC. Even a great brisket would not have done it. He is far more consistant in all four meats. I received a comment card for chicken by a judge who gave me a 9,9,8. He mentioned the use of little thighs. Of course, the judge didn't know I had dropped half of them on the ground and could only pick from the remaining eight. That was a sure opportunity to have make up some points with more pieces to choose from.
