Help for Heroes - Tentative
Hi all,
I have been making some enquiries with Help the Heroes, a friend and colleague of mine lost his sone in Afghanistan in 2008. I asked if there is anything we can do and in a conversation today we discussed the collective idea of doing a BBQ for either Troops and families deploying, Returning or even a small affair at Headley Court for the injured troops. Please don't forget for every death in afghan there is between 5-8 severe injuries.
Anyway, I want to know if any of the forum members, teams would be happy to help out on a Forces BBQ event, I have already spoken with some of you about this but at this stage it is unlikely I can do this on my own. I have asked Toby and he has said this can be fully supported by BBBQS and he is happy for the society to put its full weight behind such a noble cause.
I would therefore like to ask if any teams would mind putting some of their time and skills and equipment into a worthy event to say thanks to some of the Lads and Lasses of our Armed Forces. You can wear your own team colours, logos etc but be representing the BBBQS, it is likely we'll need Pit bosses, pit bitches and servers.
At this stage its a tentative query but any help offered would be gratefully appreciated. This will be charity and there will be no financial reward, at this stage even expenses are out of the question. Just want to be up front.
Please don't feel obliged its a big ask and even if you contribute a Veggie recipe that will be a great help.
Thanks

Hi Everyone as promised, when I have some news I would let you know.
Well... the news about us doing a BBQ for our forces heroes has gone down well with the divisional training team and is being raised with the Chief of Staff on Thursday.
Watch this space guys. Could be a big one!

As I've already said to you privately. I'll be there.
This is a great cause, and will be a fantastic event to get involved in, I'm looking forward to it and I hope many of our BBQ buddies on here will get involved.
