Weber Go Anywhere

Postby garymac » 23 May 2011, 12:10

A friend was admiring the leg of lamb that I was cooking on the Go Anywhere. He decided he had to have one. I directed him to Dawsons but was told they were not carrying it anymore.

I made some enquiries and was told they have been discontinued for the UK market as they didn't comply to European regs.

I don't suppose if anyone knows if there are plans for a re-introduction?

Me too.

I have just taken delivery of a spare charcoal grate and grill rack just in case.

Apparently the issue was, unlike the new Smokey Joe, they do not have a heatshield next to the handle and therefore didn't meet the regs.

Bloody Europe should mind there own business. It's a BBQ of course it is going to get hot. Use your common sense for goodness sake!!

It makes me chuckle when I read things like this. We *are* Europe; we, as a country, signed up to the various European regs, which are usually enshrined in UK law anyway.

Europe isn't a busybody poking their nose in, any more than any other other level of government.

BTW - plenty of second-hand Go Anywheres on eBay, many of them "collect only", but at least one will post.

And voting to join the European Union back in 1973 was nearly as big of a mistake as signing the Human Rights Act.

Another form of government it may be but it will be a lot harder to vote out.

Let's agree to differ on this one eh?

I have mixed opinions on Europe but only one on the Weber Heat Shield...

IT SUCKS!

I reckon it weakens the handle and shortens it's life span. Look at other leading brands with bolted on handles.

Yeah, weber has brought them back, this is after me searching for one for ages and finding one in a car boot sale last autumn.

The smoke Joe is OK as well, better with the Jumbo Joe though.
