Hello from Bristol

Post by smitty »

Hi all, just starting out in the world of low and slow so looking forward to pestering you all with stupid questions you've heard a million times!!

So after looking through loads of websites for the kit I would need, I've gone completely against everyone's advice and bought the excellent brinkmann gourmet charcoal smoker  lol but at £40 and my mates fabricating me all the vents for free ;) I thought I would give it a go (plus i cant afford a WSM) :(
Pics of the beast will be uploaded once all the mods are done, so looking forward to getting as much advice as possible and helping out where I can.

Cheers Dave

I hear you've had some extreme BBQ weather down in that neck of the woods.
Keep those fires burning and welcome to the forums.

Cheers for the welcome guys, well the weather has been rubbish so haven't managed to get all the bits for the Brinkmann yet and I've got to work this weekend :( but hoping to get it finished by next weekend and get my first smoke under my belt, just need to sort out what fuel I'm going to use and where to get it from, so anyone local with some suggestions would be much appreciated :P

Cheers Dave

Bookers in W-s-M always have charcoal in stock.
I can let you have some Apple and Cherry wood.

Haven't got/can't get a booker card :( but I can get access to a makro or Costco one, have seen on the forum that alot of people use the makro blue bag lumpwood so I'll give that a try.

Simon that is a really kind offer and I might have to take you up on that one as I've been unsuccessful in finding someone local
