I've noticed a worrying trend

Postby RobinC » 11 Jul 2012, 09:58

All my BBQ accessories reside in the garage but I'm finding that the I'm having to regularly retrieve them from the kitchen after the other half has borrowed my glovens, my thermapen, my wok etc. I thought it was supposed to be the other way round...

I do all of the barbecuing and almost all of the kitchen cooking.

But you know what, that still happens to me, too!

Robin, it won't make you very popular but, buy her her own Thermapen (from ebay not too expensive so you have a spare) with a label stating that she sems to like this, and the rest of the essentials, so very much that you thought she would like her own, with other bits and pieces to follow :D ;) (I'm not responsible for the outcome.

Is it the borrowing or the non-returning thats annoying?

I don't really find it annoying, more funny really that over time we've acquired better equipment, utensils, knives and serving dishes for doing BBQ than we ever had in the kitchen.

I'm very lucky, Mrs. Irish doesn't venture into my 'BBQ goody boxes' in the shed, BUT I almost suffered an acute myocardial infarction many years ago when I returned home from work to discover my EX sitting on the patio scraping moss from between the slabs with my £20 Pro Cook peeler knife

You'll note that there is emphasis on the word 'EX' ;)

Actually, having thought a little, she always nicks my bloody matches.

We don't smoke, and all the electric sparkers work on the gas hobs inside, so the only reason for us to have matches is to light the barbecue and light a fire in the fire pit at barvecue time.

Of course, she insists on burning our personal documents in the fire pit instead of shredding them. Judging by the speed with which the matches disappear I think she must be burning them 3 or 4 times a week.

I'd buy one of those re-fillable gas lighters, but I'd only find find it empty when I needed it, and at least a box of matches rattles (or not).

I'd take that as a green light to go out and buy even more BBQ items & BBQ's ;)
