Well Q fans,
They put it up on their menu so I thought I would give it a go.

It is......ok....I wouldnt say it was anything like the best pulled pork ever but I have had worse, it wasnt dry and there was some pork flavour, but that is about it. It had been sauced and this caused a little sogginess in the bread, no slaw on offer so this meant texturally it was a little one dimensional. When I am back in Subway next time I will probably have it again.....

Cant decide if this is good or bad news for the artisan producer or market vendor, I guess it is good as the more folk look out for these kind of things then demand increases, the flip side of course is that a massive business like subway can do it cheaper, albeit for an inferior product. The rise of the gourmet burger movement must I guess prove that folk are prepared to pay extra for the real deal.

On an aside Subway BBQ sauce is horrible, has a taste of cloves or something like allspice in the background and is most lame indeed,

Interested to know if other members have given the subway pp a go and what they thought,

I actually thought it was inedible. I'll stick with Spicy Italian

Pulled pork is everywhere now. You can buy microwave versions in asda n aldi and probably others too.

In some respects it's a good thing in others not. If the cheap products are ok then many people will stick with cheap and begrudge the money for the real deal.
In some cases they may even prefer it as they are used to the plastic taste.

I second the inedible. It's not for me.

I posted this a touch provacativvely because I expected the "it is like the foot scraping of beezeelbubs hoove scrapings" response.

Take a minute chaps it is ok, now compared to an artisan smokers pork butt pulled by hand and sauced by an true genius it isn't that, but "inedible"???? are you really sure, I once ate an frozen frog because there was an bet at stake.....do you really think their offering of an shadow product actually "inedible"????

Sadly Tiny ive tasted the same from many a street food authenticate bbq stall

I haven't tried subway, but Wetherspoons do a pulled pork which is very sweet and rich, can't really taste the pork either. Then, it was after a few beers and way better than a dodgy old kebab. Plus side, it includes another beer in the deal!

I've not really come across any pulled pork that's not just a stringy, mushy mess drenched in BBQ sauce and liquid smoke. I'll take mine with just cider vinegar thanks!

SmokinBBQ hit the nail on the head with it's sweet and you can't taste pork. That's what many of the joe public have come to expect and dare I say want!

I did ribs the other day and they were unctuous if I do say so myself, but the kids weren't mad on them. Now getting any kind of sensible answer out of kids is a feat, but I would bet it is because they aren't used to tasting spices and pork, just barbecue sauce. I handed them a pot of cheapo BBQ sauce to add to it if they wanted and the older one said they needed the sauce on first. Basically meaning they didn't just taste like cheapo BBQ sauce.

I'll keep trying though!
