I know I'm a noob here so my opinion counts for little - and apologies if this has been discussed before, but IMO there are far too many forum categories here. I really like the forum but is there really a need for over 30 different sub-forums? Some of them are very rarely used.

It makes the forum feel a bit dead even though it's not. Just my opinion - don't shoot me.

Why don't you suggest which sub-forums need to be deleted and the mods can have a think about it

i agree, and likewise i'm a newbie, so dont really count, but there are quite a lot, the blog ones could be put into one?

the seasonal stuff could be incorporated into another recipe bit?

does the wood fired bit really need to be on it's own?

i have learned a lot off this site and still am doing, but it could be simplified a touch, which imo, would improve it?

Toby, the lord & creator of this forum , is back from his holidays today, allowing the customary 2-3 days to get over the lack of heat & sun he will doubtless contribute to this topic.

I usually steer a path of sober neutrality in all things but fear I must be a little ribald on this matter.

This suggestion is faintly testicular. I use several forums that embrace my diverse and interesting nature but none are as excellent to manage, negotiate and interact with as this forum.

Perhaps my lack of visual acuity gives me a different perspective and the forum looks like a plate of Tofu, but its layout is magnificent. A way to address the issue is to man up and read everything, this can be done by clicking the "view unread posts" link and this lists all the lively and hearty debate with the most chronologically proximus at the top, personally I would suggest diligently reading every post until there are no matches left but if you have read your fill click the mark forums read link and again you will start with a clean slate.

Perhaps an eternal questions migh be more valid as Which bbq should I buy?? Which charcoal? and a whole list more appear every 4-6 weeks. But for me these are great noble truths that should be regularly tested.

So come on chaps its not that tricky, try doing it with your eyes closed and no mouse! :L

It's not really about it being difficult to read all the categories.

But for example, if I did want to post something about cooking on wood - I'd be tempted to either put it in the 'anything butt' forum, or just not bother posting - as I wouldn't be confident that anyone would read/reply to it in the 'wood fired' section.

And surely one recipe forum would do?

It's just my opinion - I really like the site and everyone seems very helpful. It just seems like it could work better when I compare it to other forums I use. Like I said it also just can feel a bit dead when it's actually not as everything is so spread out.

Calling my opinion 'faintly testicular' seems a bit rude.

Post wherever I am always interested in the divers nature of the forum, where it goes is of no matter.
