Ok probably all heard it before but if someone, and I'm in no way suggesting its me ;@) started up an import business for BBQ related items what would you want?? I'm thinking more ingredients than cookers!

I am thinking good offset Smokers or even trailers as there is next to no where you can get these unless custom built or really thin metal. Just a thought.

For me it would be the AMNPS (typo?) and the other products from the range. I've had to make my own so far and it's more expensive (for me anyway) I've searched for them on line, the only one I've seen and liked was on ebay, but the wrong size.

Oh and the rubs and sauces - the popular ones with hard liners / experienced BBQ chef's.

Rubs and sauces are always interesting but it does depend on the price. This year I've been weaning myself off buying rubs and sauces as I've amassed a bit of a collection that I don't seem to be getting through. I was particularly well behaved at Grillstock where my natural tendency is just to buy anything going that seems to taste ok to me.

I did have a look at doing something like this myself at one point but couldn't quite make the money side of things stack up especially given the very limited market in the UK. Good luck to anyone thinking of doing this.

I think now is a great time to be looking at this. There does seem to be a momentum building behind rubs and sauces. Most of the supermarkets now offer in house rubs at their meat counters. Recently noticed nandos rubs hitting the shelves.

There is also the opportunity for US products to be made here under licence, reducing cost and adding EU as a customer base.

Sigh: takes money to make money.

Sadly a lot of the "in house" rubs offered are the same across the board and available in sachets and contains a lot of nasty e numbers. You are right though there are several small companies who are importing quite a range and that to set up something new & bespoke will take a lot of money and good faith.

I have 5 or so US food / grocery sites based in the UK, might be worth checking these out for a general price comparison. Not sure about forum rules on posting links on threads, so didn't include them.
