God bless good butchers

Have been frequenting my local butchers for a few years but the shocking weather means I have seldom purchased cuts for lo and slow so have not got into discussions with the chaps.

Last week I asked for and was duly presented with a 5lb slab of brisket which I slow cooked in the oven owing o the arctic temps outside.

Was back again this sat and the first words of greeting - "did you manage to get some decent burnt ends?" now there is a chap in the know.....

We discussed more obscure meat based opportunities and have earmarked a leg of mutton and a whole veal brisket for future attention.

The great thing is that this is a tiny butchers in a residential back street, but by giving fantastic service and great produce there are 3 butchers fully occupied on a saturday and the queue is out the door.

If ever close to Portsmouth look up Sheperd and Daughter on the interweb and pay them a visit, tell them the big blind bloke sent you! :)

Cheers
Tiny

It's great to have a good butchers, its not easy to find an independant shop these days, let alone a good one. Don't forget to take him some of the results of your joint handiwork (pun most defineatly intended ;) )
