A BIG Howdy to my BBQ friends across the pond!

I'm headed to the UK thanks to an email and chance meeting in Los Angeles with Scott and Lyndz! We had Benny, my asst cook, and talked about a possibly spreading BBQ happiness in the UK and that set the wheels in motion with Toby
Will be on LAX/LHR arriving on July 11 and will be staying for a couple of weeks.

Am really excited to meet everyone in person and share love and passion for BBQ.

Hi Harry, great to have you here and I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to your class.

We've actually met once, very briefly at the American Royal in 2009. I stopped by your pitch but you were pretty busy at the time. We were there as the British BBQ Society team. I think you probably met Adie as well.

Anyway, can't wait to do the course, if there's anything I can do for you during your stay in the UK just give me a shout, but I'm sure you'll be very well looked after!

Although being a northerner I would normally say you can't get proper fish and chips down south because they don't do gravy  I'm sure there will be a decent one in the vicinity of Tongham.

I don't know if you drink, but there's one of the best breweries in England just up the road from Toby's as well. If you do enjoy a beer, I'd recommend a visit.

Hi Harry, I'd recommend getting your fish and chips between 5 and 7 pm on a Friday as that's when the chip shop will be busiest and therefore more freshly cooked. :D

As a devout Suvverner, sadly I have to agree, alkthough as redeeming qualities (almost) dad was from Manchester but Mam was from south Shields.......does that exonerate me enough????

Hi Harry,

Welcome to the forum. I am sure I speak for many when I say it is is great to have such an experienced BBQ chef who is interested in this forum and the work that Toby and the society are doing.

I hope I will be able to make your classes as I very much enjoyed watching you on BBQ pit masters and following your recent wins and particularly for showing how affordable equipment used well can still win big at competitions.

As for the chips, you need to be by the sea in my opinion, salt, vinegar and sea gulls fighting for a bite.

If you were to visit Brighton during your stay you could also stop and see John at the BBQ Shack and also grab some Fish and Chips on the seafront.

Regards

Phil
