Need more fuel

Postby CLEGGZILLA » 04 Nov 2013, 15:16

I'm new to this, so what fuel do people use.

I did have a look but could not find a specific thread.

I remeber something about heat blocks or something like that, that I want to try

I use lump from Liverpool Wood Pellets. They'll deliver to Stockport very quickly too (I'm only a mile or two from there)

+1 for heat beads, they seem to last forever and will be my fuel of choice for the foreseeable future.

I had the WSM running for 23 hours (with the pitmaster 110) this weekend on one bag and have still got around a third left :D.

Toby is selling them (if hes got any left) via the website http://www.saysausages.com/shop/ this is where I got mine from. £42 for 4 bags inc delivery.

Cheers

Yup they are the ones I use. Never done any kind of price check so no idea of the most cost effective fuel but these have never let me down and in my WSM I can put 4KG (a full basket) in for a 15-20hr cook and then close all of the vents and I'll have a full chimney minimum left to start the next cook with.

I used the Weber long lasting briquettes at the weekend, very impressed, didn't have to get up once during the night and then put a few more in and cooked ribs all day.

Ok there is a yellow ash but had no difference in taste to the pork or ribs.

I only got them as I couldn't get to Bookers due to the lorry crash on the M25 and it being closed, messed up the roads between me and Bookers so went to the Weber centre nearer to me.

Will be buying another bag or 2 of these in the future

The Aldi stuff is only any good for grilling, it doesn't hold it's temp and is erratic in burn rate.
