Planks and serving platters

Hi gang
I bought some stunning laguiole steak knives recently but am yet to use them mainly because they are smooth blades (not serrated) and I have heard that using them on wood is way better for them then on regular plates.
So question : could I use smoking planks to serve steak and meat on? How thick are the planks typically? Or would I be better off with some cheap wooden cutting boards? Maybe from tk maxx or the like.
Thoughts appreciated
Cheers
Adam

I wouldn't worry about them on plates. They are knives after all - when they get dull, you sharpen them.

True enough..! I do like the idea of serving steaks up on a plank though!

It does sound appealing! I like the look of olive wood chopping boards. You can find them on ebay. Not dirt cheap, but affordable, very presentable, and last well.

Problem solved, and as aris pointed out knives can be sharpened, in fact plain blades generally can be sharpened far easier than serrated.
