I'm wanting to order one of these to go into my ever increasing kit bag, but i've got a question about these which i'm hoping someone can help me with.

I can see that you can buy a ThermoWorks version of this in the US which will do both fahrenheit & celsius but when i look for the UK version it only does celsius. Am i right in thinking this or can you get the fahrenheit & celsius version over here?

Also Steve, i think you're sponsored by these guys. Can you recomend a good place to buy them from...possibly with a bbbqs discount ;)

I don't know what's in your pm inbox.

What I can tell you is that the Superfast thermapen sold in the UK is identical tto the Thermoworks one. They's all actually UK built, Thermoworks is the US distributor.

There is a new "alarm" version that only does C but the standard one is set via dip switches in the battery compartment.

There is a BBBQS discount planned but it's not in place yet, you can buy direct from ETI or just google to see if there's anywhere with a discount currently.

I'll wait for Toby to comment on the discount scheme as I don't know where it's at.

Mate, it's going to be 10%. I wouldn't let the extra fiver keep me from buying one. I've bought about 5 in the past and ended up giving them to people. That was when we used to get the old FR-5 squarish ones, old skool

I have to admit my little aid package from ETI before the Royal was a godsend :D

I' m also desparate for one of having used it at the recent cooking class - best I've seen these for is on eBay at £25 - although I'm a little concerned as seller has never sold anything before so cobviously has zero feedback - also only has them in Blue, which I really dont mind! Just not drawn to the pink one!

Lee,

I would be a sceptical as you too. Beware of cheap imitations and also expensive ones.

I also noticed on some, that the Temp Window sits to the right, and on others it appears more central!! I take it this is because of newer/older models and not because of cheap imitations!

Never noticed that before Lee, but I suspect you're right there is likely to be a noticeable difference with imitations. This is a genuine one...
