I have recently been given some trimmimgs from a friends apple tree, being new in th smoking game I was wondering if I needed to do anything to the wood before attempting to smoke with it? Some of the wood is quite thin and some has a small amount of fungi on it. Hope someone can help?
Regards JayG

You'll probably want to remove any fungus but aside from that you should be good to go. There are two schools when it comes to lump wood - some suggest you age the wood (dry it out) whereas some say use it when it's green. I'd suggest giving some a go as it is and see how it works out. If you don't like the smoke then put it in a dry place to season for a few months

Most certaintly get rid of the fungus and I've used both dry and semi-green wood so I'm not sure there wood be a problem.
