Hi, am attempting bcc in my modded ecb tomorrow. Was wondering if not to use the water pan and then use an indirect grilling method, how far from the heat source to put the chicken, place the beer can in a foil dish on the grate? Also what cooking temp am I to achieve??? Sorry but im a bit of a newbie to this.....

you should always have the pan in there as it acts as a deflector, you can use water, clay or sand which you will see covered in other posts or I know of several people that leave it empty. WHen trying to smoke you want to aim for about the 230f mark but alot of people like to cook their chicken higher at 300f. What I am trying to say is there is no fixed system. I messed around with a beer can chicken video a few years ago I will see if I can find the link for you

Hi
Great video.
Did you get the heat to a certain temp first and would you check the internal temp after 90 or so minutes?
There's so much I want to try but I need to save up for my wsm first as I've only got a gas bbq and a beer can chicken isn't going to fit inside it.
* sorry just read your post above the video and see the temps, apologies

So how many BCCs can you fit on a Ranch BBQ?

Then if you used rib racks as well, you could probably smoke enough to fill Eater of Food and us
