Hi all,
Have just purchased a Weber rotisserie for on Weber one touch premium. Mine has come without the wooden end on the spit with the counterbalance, does anyone know if Weber have dropped this from the model, all the website pics and vids have one on, but the box it come in and the instructions don't have on their pictures.
Grateful for any feedback.

I think Phil (racks of ruin) had this same problem and got it sorted, so it might be worth sending him a PM about this.

Are you talking about the handle on the spit. If so I bought mine last summer and it had that. Do you have a link to a picture at all?

Hi
Yes, had the same issue. All the pics from most online stores show the older model but are shipping the current model. Weber changed it and it no longer comes with a handle or counter weight. I can verify that the counter weight is not needed but I was a bit confused by the lack of handle.
I emailed weber and was advised of this change and told me that the warranty would be valid if they found it to be an issue. So far I have used gloves to lift out as advised in the manual.
The reason for no counter weight, I was told, was that the motor is now strong enough to handle imbalance.
Caught me by surprise too, but carried on regardless and it is still a great bit of kit.

Excerpt from the reply from Weber
In the new version you have received I can confirm there is no wooden handle or counter weight. We would always recommend you use barbecue mitts anyway, even with the wooden handle design and you should be fine to use.
'll get back to you with answers to your questions as soon as I can and clarify if there are any additional cooking instructions, however I would imagine these issues will have been considered. You are, as you say, covered by the two year warranty too

If it was last summer, then it is likely the older version. Weber just started and the model without the handle is the 2012 stock.

Ah ok. The wooden handle never gets hot. You go need gloves though to undo the skewer.

I've used the rorissssserie.......rottttisser.....spit numerous times and never used the counterweight, provided the skewer is carefully placed so the weight is evenly balanced the older model worked perfectly. The heaviest I've done is a 15Lb leg of pork.

Extra prongs/forks are available, to cook lots of chicken etc

Thanks everyone, what a response! I have emailed Weber to see what they say, presume they have dropped as not needed, the motor on mine does look a lot bigger than the one on the Weber video, so they probably have upgraded it. Their video was posted in Dec 2011, so they should of used the new stock really.
Just as an aside, the store I brought it from had really good deals on Weber, the entire range including Fuel has 15% off, then had a further 15% off for the bank holiday weekend. They had Weber 57's for £70 already assembled and One touch premiums 57cm for £99 - in a range of colours, then take 15% off! Not sure of the rules for posting shop names so won't do until someone tells me how too. Apparently they do this 15% thing most bank holidays.
