Hi guys,

I am looking to get a rib rack and I was wondering what dimensions you guys have on yours?

I am looking for the length, width, number of racks it holds, height and very importantly the distance between the metal wires where the ribs sit as I want to be able to cook all different kinds and some racks look too narrow. I know its a bit geeky but if anybody has some measurements that would be great.

Also on a related topic what is the maximum thickness and length that each of the ribs out there could realistically be?
E.g. a slab of baby back ribs is normally under xx inches etc
E.g.

Baby back
Spare ribs
Country style
Beef ribs too


Also if you have any photos of your rib racks then that would be great especially those with full racks of ribs on them

No unfortunately not. I'm just someone who likes to get the best thing they can for whatever they are doing and I would like some advice from the pro's.

I did make a chimney starter to my own specifications which is the always biggest you can get/make. I did some tests on a Weber chimney starter from a friend and found it could only hold around 3kg of charcoal which I knew would not be nearly big enough for my powder coated oil 45 gallon oil drum BBQ. So I made my own with air holes, handles, wire cone base and now it holds 10kg of charcoal (when using friends briquettes) I also make my own hardwood lump charcoal in my garden and always use that when at home or if I go somewhere I take some with me.

There is a picture of the Weber rack on this link together with what my Butcher sells as "King Ribs" which is basically a stripped down belly of pork. The BBQ is aWeber OTP 57cm for size comparrison.

Yes that looks excellent, I have found something that I can use as a rack for mine now so hopefully it will work this weekend when I will give it a go. Those "king ribs" look great, how much do they weigh pre cooked? I bought a box of "meaty ribs" (silly name ) from Booker, 10kg of ribs and 4 racks, 2.5kgs per rack, they are HUGE!!! It looks similar to yours, yours looks wider and shorter and mine are longer and thinner.

Not sure of the weight, but it's basically a pork belly with the skin, brisket flap and gristle bones removed. Next time I'll get a weight, maybe do a before & after weigh-in. I'm hoping to get a rack in for Christmas, mainly Boxing day munchies. This time I'll take of an extra layer of meat,
