I love rib eye and t bone steaks have that for breakfast with salsa here in Arizona.

here is something great -skirt steak
But there is another great steak I love to grill called skirt steak it is a cheaper cut off meat that is very tasty when prepared the right way marinated and used here in the southwest and Mexico to make Carne Asada for Carne Asada burritos and tacos , if you have never tried this you are in for a taste sensation. this is also great cooked with a side ogf grilled onions and mushrooms that i fry either in butter or olive oil

best to all

Get yourself down to Hawksmoor restaurant in London.... Amazing!!! The next best steak I have had was at Hudsons restaurant in Bath... You can have whatever you want... as long as its a steak

There is a simple, and unfortunate reason for this, the biggest exporters of Ostrich to Europe was South Africa (and then I believe Portugal), Bird Flu has wiped out Ostrich populations in both countries and its going to take 5+ years for them to reach the same level of birds they had. On top of this European stockists are nervous about this from a reputation perspective, so dont expect to be able to get Ostrich in the UK for the next 5-10 years (unless you are prepared to pay over the odds and go to an importer). Very Very disappointing

I've driven past at least one ostrich farm in the UK, can't remember where though.

Seems you can still buy it from the UK though? Unless this website is out of date.

Trip out to London today to meet a friend to celebrate his 40th - we booked lunch at the Oxo Tower, the Brasserie rather than the full-on restaurant. I had a 350g Black angus rib eye on the bone for main. When asked how I would want it, I said rare. The waiter replied that 'Chief says it is better when cooked medium-rare in order to get the fat to break down a little more'. Ok - why ask me if you're going to 'recommend' how it should be done! But ok we'll go with Chief's recommendation. When it came, it was actually medium to medium-well. BUT it was delicious & still very very tender. Going to have to try that at home.... Pretty sure it was cooked on a cast iron griddle - no BGEs or KJs in there.... ;-)

Not impossible to get, but for the price not the best value. UK is 2nd biggest producer of ostrich in Europe, believe it or not.

Our Makro in Sheffield sell Ostrich and at one time had Crocodile in, I'm heading to Bookers in the morning so I may call by Makro and take a look.

On the "Skirt" steak, I think my Butcher refers to this as Flank Steak same thing but lost in translation I believe

Skirt steak in the US is cut from the plate. What we call skirt over here is cut from the flank, similar but not quite the same.
