Looks like santa is going to be good to me this year.

I'm thinking the Kamado Joe classic is the way to go.

Does anyone have strong thoughts on this choice? Anybody know the cheapest place or have a discount code?

If you had the choice between this and a Pellet smoker, which would it be?

That looks almost identical to the cheap one I bought last year. It was described to me as being an Auplex-manufactured Kamado; I have seen identicial items on the web, marketed as Vision Kamados.

I am generally pleased with mine, although both the bottom and top vent are cheaply manufactured from thin metal (particularly the bottom one). With the one shown in this listing, they appear to have replaced the top vent with a cast-iron item, but the bottom vent still looks like the one I have.

The vents work, but they are not as good as I wish, and I have had to take pliers to my bottom vent a couple of times to bend the metal back to where it should be. Long term, I plan to replace both.

However... the cracking/crazing of the exterior would rule this item out for me. They say that it won't affect performance, but I wouldn't risk it.
