i have a bad case of rage haha,

at work there is a population of feral cats. 3 weeks ago i was about to start emptying a bulk bag of plastic saw dust into one of the machines and i spotted two kittens. put the bag back and the mum took one and left one so i took her home. me and the mrs have been bottle feeding her every three hours for the last two weeks, we took betsy to the vet for a check up and to get worming stuff.

my house is a right zoo 3 gerbils, 5 fish, a budgie, the kitten, 4 chicens and 2 rabbits! keeps me busy. and to top that off there are 4 children... they're the hard part. i have 2 sons Ben the eldest who is 6 then Maximus who has just turned 1 and there are two step daughters Elina and Faith aged 4 and 10... i dont think my head will hold my hair much past 30 haha    :o :(

My plans had to change also, I have moved the new outback from the front room to the garden. Fired it up and cooked.....6 sausages for the kids tea....not exactly bbq university!!

I have 2 ordinary feeling supermarket steaks to try and rescue for our tea. On the upside the Outback Spectrum goes lovely, nice even heat and she gets bloody hot.

First foray into propane so dont know whether this makes a difference, it is rated at 17.4kw but have no idea how powerful this is, seems to have a lot more poke than my clapped out Hunter.

Still in the garden with meat involved, mustnt grumble!
Cheers

My outdoorchef runs better with propane/patiogas than on butane it burns hotter, uses less gas to get the same results and it's better in the winter.

Pork butt turned out well yesterday. It was a bit breezy up here so maintaining temps on the WSM was a bit tricky. I had to cook with the lid slightly cracked open for the majority of the cook along with all the vents open to get an acceptable temp.

Scotch eggs were tasty but I probably over did the par boil stage as I didn't managed to get runny centres. Still I'll give it another go sometime and a left over scotch egg went nicely inside a couple of toasted muffins this morning for my own version of a Sausage & Egg McMuffin.

Due to some requests from friends I am seeing next week, I had the cold smoker going today. A few pounds of cheddar, some butter, and some mozzarella.

Meanwhile I had a small piece of pork shoulder in the pellet grill, which turned out cracking, and a simple fatty, bacon-wrapped and filled with baked beans.

Fatty? its delicious that is what it is.......

Layout a weave of bacon
Cover with a thick layer of sausage meat
put something in the middle, chorizo, black pudding, mushrooms, beans or all of the above
Now wrap it into a swiss roll kind of shape, well something like that
stick on a baking tray and smoke that dude....
Crispy bacon smokitastic with a meaty sausage interior, the breakfast fare of the gods.

Ideal to bung on after an overnighter or to start the day if you are in the madness of "up at 4.30 to get the bbq on........"

Nourishing, very nourishing but as the name suggests will not assist weight loss even as part of a calorie controlled diet! :P

Cheers
