We wouldn't be entering anyway but shouldn't rules already be in place, prior to it being announced? And how have all the places gone prior to the new webpage going up? Just asking?
I thought Pit Masters was a TV show homed in America.
My guess is the places have gone because it's an event people want to attend? There have been several mentions all over Facebook and applications were accepted via the original website. I can only assume that those with a genuine in interest in competing used the contact page. I know Ed made contact and was successful.
As long as rules are placed in due course previous to the event I don't see a problem. Personally I don't see it as an issue being the competition is more about fun then bidding for position over a series. I mean it's like tell me what to cook, when it needs to be turned in and how... that's all I need any given day for fun and Q.

Granted it may not be a style everyone likes ( the moaning has been prevalent here for the last two years) but variety is the spice of life.
*** I would personally recommend questions be sent directly to Grillstock as concerns would be better voiced to those in charge. I do not have any say or make any decisions on their behalf. ***

JMO/YMMV
A pitmaster is a master of a pit ....a world champion is a little bit different but hey ho I won't split hairs.
OK cool as I said just asking?
I personally wouldn't enter any competition without first knowing the rules.

Toby,
As man-food.co.uk is one of our sponsors and Byron is coming over we have decided not to compete. We will be cooking on the man-food.co.uk stand and doing some other stuff with our other sponsors too.

I'm going to be there with my family again, best way to get kiddies into food I think, and for them to meet ambassadors of food such as Al. We loved it last year.
Looking forward to meeting a few more of you.
Going on the sunday.
Cheers
Marcus

Nice sentiments Al, but having read the 2011 topic, I have an inherent problem asking people about their "stash"

It brings back fond memories of a "previous existence"

Great topic! I'm looking forward to competing at Grillstock for the first time this year. It should also be a great opportunity to
''do battle'' in front of a large audience against quality opposition who I don't normally come across in BBBQS/ IBQN competitions. I also like the challenge of cooking the meats over a shorter period of time as I believe a ''pitmaster'' should be equally at ease with hot and fast as low and slow. IMHO ,The American Royal is only a World Championship in the same way The World Series is to baseball.[ But we all know how educated Americans are in the subject of geography.] The only BBQ World Championship is ''The Jack'' as this truly has an international field.

Hey guys,
I'll answer what I can.
The rules are coming. The delay is that me and Jon are on different continents but I believe you will have them at least 90 days before the event and they will be updated this year. You'll be cooking the traditional BBQ meats so if I were you I'd work on those for now
Steve if you''re cooking I will personally gaurantee that you can stay overnight on site. I'm not exactly sure what the policy is but I will go out on a limb for you and any other serious competitors that find this to be the deal breaker.
The IBIS is right there as well as a Marriott. Hooters is close as well and Al will buy you a beer there every night.
