Such a shame, as I'm sure with all your BBQ knowledge and expertise, you would have been a star competitor and it would have been great for many of us to see how it's done properly! :)

Having seen the trailers I am not sure it is going to be quite what I initially thought. During the interview I was told that we were are all required to use the smokers that are provided, so years of learning how your own smoker performs under different conditions is out of the window. From the trailers it also appears to be more about catering for the masses rather than preparing quality food - but this may be just the way the trailers have been edited.

Its going to be very different to what was initially promoted. A real shame and a missed opportunity but thats life

Yep, looks just like Masterchef/Bakeoff for the BBQ world. Every contestant will have a life story to tell, of how they came to be there, and the cameras will be waiting to swoop on any potential disaster, while totally missing getting any interesting or userful cooking technique on camera.

Will I be watching it? Of course.

The trailer doesn't do much to be honest.

Gentlemen, gentlemen,
Can we not pause for a moment before adopting shrew faces like bulldogs licking wee off a nettle? There is a BBQ show on prime time ITV and they have brought in 2 well known presenters, but before the first episode is aired there seems to be a bunch of us gathering with torches and bbq tongs ready to lynch the makers as it "isn't proper enough"

A little reality check here, now I know for most of us on here an 8 page thread on whether kosher salt makes a difference versus table salt, those swearing that the only proper salt to use in bbq has been crystallised from the tears of a unicorn, someone contributing that American salt isn't salt at all but an evil chemical concoction that causes obesity in goats, this for us is deeply interesting fare, sage counsel and learned debate.

Sadly I must break the news folks, it isn't just your wife that doesn't give a dingos scrotum about this, it is almost all the rest of the world that doesn't possess an BBQ anorak for all seasons.

So whilst many of us here would like to see a 3 hour spectacular on how the kind of knife you use to slice your brisket is the difference between winning and losing, Joe Public wants a bit more generic entertainment than that.

So as with other things, enjoy the prime time frippery for what it is, at least it will be for our tastes, for the deeper, darker more complex and disturbing world of BBQ you are going to have to stick with clandestine downloading from the interclacker, or specialist gatherings in a field at the weekend where it is truly hardcore.....

Come on folks lets support, I know at least one of our own is on the show.......
Cheers

A very peculiar live and let live attitude Tiny, I thought the whole point of using internet forums was to have the ability to mock others and make unfounded derogatory comments? Have I been wrong this entire time?
