Anyone used greatbritishmeat.com?

Post by PeteW »

Hiya,

Just stumbled across these guys, who seem to have very reasonable prices and do some proper cue cuts: http://www.greatbritishmeat.com

Eg, 3kg boston butt £16.50, 2kg st louis cut ribs £10, 2kg brisket £16. Free delivery over £50.

Those seem more like supermarket prices that the horribly expensive butchers I'm lumped with round here.
Anyone used them before? I've put in an order for the weekend so will soon find out, but just wondering if anyone else has used them, or has experience with any other online butchers that aren't too expensive?

Cheers

Pete

Looks semi reasonable and certainly cheaper than most online butchers I've seen lately. I recognise the site from a previous post but can't for the life of my find it again on here.

Same here and won't be doing it again. The St Louis spare ribs are small baby backs and the Boston Butt is boneless rolled shoulder.

That's a shame, thanks for letting us know. Did you give them any feedback?

It will all get used the ribs for snacks as they're that size and i'm sure i can adjust and re-tie the shoulder, I dropped them an email but it's out of hours now.

Got mine today too and am quite disappointed too. The 'boston butt' is just a bog standard boned pork shoulder, with the skin left on and annoyingly it was tightly scored and so a bitch to get off. Basically, it was exactly the same as you'd get from the supermarket, as were the ribs which were just baby backs.

What's really weird is that the descriptions on the site are correct and tell them exactly what to do, do they've got no excuses to get it wrong like this!

Well I let them know what was wrong and was told..

"We've started selling these based on customer feedback of what they wanted from us. If we're getting it wrong then we absolutely need to know, but we haven't had other complaints on these, so we'll wait and see what other customers think."

So if anyone else ordered, do please give them some feedback!
