Re: Charcoal Basket
Maybe not, they want £38 + VAT for the sheet. I think I'll pass on that

Re: Charcoal Basket
I live in Peterborough mate, Cambridgeshire how comes?
Just thinking about what I could use instead and had an idea but don't know if it would be practical.
It was a completely random idea but i thought if I could find a Hanging Basket big enough I could use something like that? Maybe with a few modifications but no welding.
Something like this.

Re: Charcoal Basket
I made my own, I bought the mesh from here http://www.meshdirect.co.uk/
I fixed it together with a few ss nuts and bolts, and ss self tappers, mine is for cold smoking and I used a fine mesh, but they sell all types.

I would check what metal is used in construction, allot are cheap alloys and usually plastic coated.

Get on Google and search for steel suppliers near you
here's a couple:
http://www.a1steel.co.uk/
http://www.locatesupplies.co.uk/
http://www.bmsteel.co.uk/Our-Products
I got my piece of expanded steel from the local steel supplier, 1x expanded mesh – 290mm x 1200mm £5.56
Have a butchers at my write up to show what I did, I didn't weld the basket (until after a couple of months of use really) https://www.dropbox.com/s/7lndnbdgkom2h ... w%20To.pdf

Thanks for searching I emailed 2 of those companies yesterday, one hasn't got back to me yet and the other quoted me £38 + VAT for a 2500x1250mm sheet. Just fired off an email to the other one on the list I hadn't found before.

CHEEEEKY bstards
I'm quite lucky in that I pass my local one on the way to work, so I just popped in one day.
They have a scrap corner with smaller offcuts that you still have to ask for and there is a minimum fee (£10 I think) but often the stuff I want is in there and works out cheap too and I don't think I've ever bought just one thing so the minimum fee never applies

On a side note if anyone is able to get any and post it to me I'd be happy to pay plus a bit on top for your time? If any one is kind enough
