Where in Las Vegas & Portland, OR?

Post by Clayfish »

I'm flying to Las Vegas soon and then on to Portland, Oregon. Does anybody know of any BBQ restaurants that serve excellent BBQ?

I'll also want to check out any BBQ shops so is there any you know of in those two cities or any products I shoulds keep an eye out for which I can't get over here?

Cheers

Dunno, but I can give you a tip that Oregon Pinot Noirs are some of Americas finest wines.

And they're a pretty good match for many difficult barbecue dishes, too.

Though not BBQ - I can recommend a most excellent place for a steak. It's a place called The Acropolis. A friend who lives in Portland took me there last year. Ask any local resident or taxi driver - they'll know about it

Memphis Championship BBQ at 2250 E. Warm Springs Rd Las Vegas, NV 89119 is the real deal.

Only went to one BBQ place in Vegas, and that was at the Lynyrd Skynyrd bar, it was very nice, but had a feeling that there were better BBQ joints in Vegas.

For breakfast you must head here (www.hashhouseagogo.com/), awesome, best brekky i've ever had.

I second hash a go go, but go to the main one off the strip, as its alot nicer. MASSIVE PORTIONS!!! The only place I can recommend (as I didnt like Memphis Championship BBQ) was Sassy Sals, but it is about 20 min / $25 cab ride out there, if you have your own car then its easy enough to find. Vegas is not really the place for BBQ

I went to Memphis Championship BBQ in Vegas.

Nothing special.

Not BBQ, but I recommend Florida Café at the Howard Johnson Hotel, between the strip and downtown. Now that's some comfort food.

Tacos el Gordo looks good too, though haven't eaten there.

Thanks for the input, I know Vegas and Portland aren't renowned BBQ cities, but if I'm in the States anyway, I may as well try to get some BBQ.

You say your going soon so i hope this isnt too late .
Just got back from Las vegas last Thurs , THe Harley Davidson Cafe , centre of the strip claims to do the best BBQ in Vegas . I had a rib and chicken combo $22 , thoroughly enjoyed it , juicy and tasty and in a good location.
Enjoy your trip .
