Just seen 1 of these on the brethren site and was wondering if anyone had attempted to convert their smokey Joe into 1 and if so where did you get the steamer pan from? Any ideas gratefully received

This really if the dogs gonads of mini smokers!!! Easy to make (over here anyway ) and not much cash involved - about 100 dollars if you have to buy everything new. There is a long long thread on the VWBB which covers a lot of the evolution of this brilliant piece of kit, for anyone interested here is the link -

http://tvwbb.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/184 ... 049575/p/1

This has been on my next to do list for a while, just got to gather a few bits and pieces!!!!!

Sorry, have no idea where you might buy the pot in the UK, I can only suggest a large stock pot probably from a catering supply place or something along the home brewing line. If I think of anything else I will let you know.

A nice project Riverrat, doubtless ideal for a nice day long picnic on those long hot sunny days we have in the UK. Don't you miss those now you are in the cold, wet damp and dismal USA? Or have I got that the wrong way round.
Wouldn't the bottom sections of a ProQ do the same job though

I've just ordered one of these:

http://www.amazon.com/Imusa-Steamer-Pot-Aluminum-32-Quart/dp/B0018EAV4M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1341931054&sr=8-1&keywords=imusa+tamale+steamer

Hopefully it fits otherwise I'm going to have to learn what a tamale is :? !

I will post here when I've made the mini, waiting for the pot from the US, will have to source the rest of the parts as well.

When you do, get to a good supplier I ordered some online and the massa (the corn paste) was dry and tasteless and the filling, on the "Lightly Spiced Beef" IMO it would have given Steve's proposed master blaster recipe a run for it's money. We consigned them to the recycling bin double wrapped in case they burned through one layer of paper ;)
