I can certainly see a (non-BBQ, general cooking) use for it. Although there is nothing that it can do (that I can think of) that you couldn't do with a spatula and thermometer, I often feel I have not enough hands when I need to keep things stirring, while monitoring temps and adding ingredients. Combining the two into one gains me a hand.

Despite that, I was going to say that I probably wouldn't bother buying one, as I already have thermapens, but at that price, I may pick one up anyway.

Glad I could be of some kind of help..... I used to use the tongue test (would it burn me or not :D ) pre thermometer era.

Good for sauces and beans etc but is not something I feel a great need to buy. Spatula and thermopen will continue to do the job I think.

great for sugar work, jams etc,,,,,,,,possibly to ensure the sugars don't burn when making BBQ sauce

From my previous life as a Chef I can see the merits, no more searching on the side for your thermometer at that critical moment, it's already in your hand stirring, I will be placing an order!
