online butchers
Do any of you wonderful people use online butchers?
There are a few cropping up at the moment, just wondered if they are any good for more unusual cuts, breeds or animals.

My Pork Farmer is online, his butts aren't advertised but if you phoned, they will cut n ship.
www.trotterspork.com I tend to drive and pick mine up.
I think more and more will pop up as the cold couriers are becoming more common place. Another online butchers is www.owentaylor.co.uk

Re: online butchers
I've not used an online butcher but have used an online fish monger in the past which was really good.
They shipped some live crab to me in a polystyrene box with cool packs and the crab was still alive, i think you need to check how they deliver as i had make sure someone was home for the delivery as they used a specialised courier with chilled storage in the back of the van for this.
If they say they're going to ship it with DHL or Royal Mail best look for someone else.

Cley is a lovely place with some equally good places, as is the whole of the Norfolk coast.

Butchers shop is one of the modern and very exciting concepts that are making a lot of noise these days in the market. With the concept of online butchers, people have got the opportunity to choose the best meat for their home by just sitting at home. These online stores can help you with almost any kind of need may it be pork, chicken, beef, mutton, fish or any other product.

Transportation concerns me - with the state of some delivery companies and the Royal Mail.

Re: online butchers
Okay I have used Russells bloody expensive but gorgeous meat very well packaged and shipped by corier.
The first suckling pig was frozen, well packaged and again couriered. Dunstan fish & game. (see my post on suckling piggie)
I've just taken delivery of a chilled piggie from www.tastetradition.co.uk but may well have a problem I ordered a 10Kg, as the previous 12Kg, as above, was a tight fit. This one is a 14Kg no extra charge and is (I believe a Berkshire) going to be a tight fit.
Also a selection of ribs & wings from Reading Meatpackers. Both arrived at the same time on the same van and the bonus points go to Meatpackers for packaging althought the piggie arrived at 3deg C so no problems.
Meatpackers are the online part of Berkshire Meat Traders as mentioned in the Fribun ribs topic.

Ive used www.devonrose.com quite a few times and always had great service and quality.
As for delivery, they cant leave the meat or take it back to the depot so someone has to be in. I just arrange it for my days off and stock up.
