No no no. Most harmful bacteria is killed over 160 deg F so fire up the grill, let the heat do the work and then cook. You don't need to make your grill squeaky clean after use!

And avoid wire brushes of any kind like the plague - the wires can break off and lay unnoticed on the grill, and people have been hospitalised for injesting them with their food.

Aluminium foil balls - cheap and easy and safe.
