Square Smoker Charcoal BBQ from Argos - £22.99 reduced from £44.99

I bought the above bbq from Argos last week after finding it on offer at Argos (my fiancé had directed me there to look at their baby sale for when our first child comes in September and naturally I bought a bbq instead!).

Product description / spec:

Built with a large cooking area this square smoker barbecue is great if you want to cook for your family in the warm summer days. Featuring a wire rack to keep condiments and utensils as well as a lid with a vent if you want to smoke your food.

• Constructed from steel.
• Steel cooking grill.
• Overall size H81.5, W61, D55cm.
• Size of cooking area 0.23m².
• Can cook for up to 8 people.
• Weight 9.2kg.
• Flat packed for home assembly.

It took about 20 minutes to build it after some slight confusion where I thought some parts were missing but it turned out the screws and washers for the legs were already attached to the legs rather than in the bag of screws. It’s a good size, and was perfect for doing my first attempt at pulled pork on.

The only issues I do have is that the cover for the air vent on the back is a bit loose so even if you close it fully air still gets through, but that easy to fix. And the lid has to be pushed down on all the edges to ensure it shuts fully.

Other than that it was great for such a cheap price, slow cooked a 2.5kg pork shoulder for 10/11 hours in it and even 9 hours later it was still holding the heat in really well.

This is the same BBQ that i started off with 4 yrs ago and it's still sat in my garden, albeit looking a little sorry for itself.

I was able to cook some pretty good ribs on it. I never cooked any bigger cuts on it as i found it a pain in the a** to keep the temp's stable with and soon upgraded to a weber kettle

I'm sure if I had a thermometer to keep an eye on the temp I'd find the same thing - until I get one though ignorance is bliss as they say and I'll just assume all is fine lol. I'll definitely be investing in a better bbq at some point though once I raise my game a bit :)

I also started out with one of these although mine came from Focus DIY.

It's a bargain at that price.
