My Keg Grill/Smoker

Just though I would post some pics of my home made bbq.
It took a month or so of weekends to finish, but its pretty much complete now.
The steel frame is 1" hollow section I got from work - i was told this was engineering steel (whatever that is) its quite thick walled and was a sort of a dark blue colour before I painted it. (£ - Free)
The barrel its self began as a 55gal oil drum, then I got hold of the ally beer keg and started using that (the date stamp is from 1989!). (£ - Free)
Grill for food and charcoal is expanded steel, then looks as if it was rolled flat. Very strong and quite heavy (£ - free)
Handle is a cheap stainless one for kitchen cupboards from Tesco. (£2.99)
Temp guage is a cheapo from eBay (£5)
Wheels were also from eBay (£12)
Hinges 2x stainless marine door hinges (£8)
Bolts are all stainless m6 domed hex (£5)
Shelves are made from wood bought at b&q - (£15 ish)
The only slight concern I have is weather the alloy is poisonous? I guess it isn't as we've had numerous bbqs on it now and we're all fine!
It also has some form of coating on the inside. I initially tried to burn this out by filling it with wood and setting alight. Which didnt work.. just turned the inside black which all wiped off and the coating looked like new again. I also tried attacking it with a twisted wire brush on a 9" angle grinder and that hardly touched it - I certainly didn't get through to the alloy underneath.
Should I be concerned?
I will take some better pictures when I can.
